Winter hiking is a great way to experience the Indiana Dunes!

Let’s meet at the West Beach (376 North County Line Road, Gary) main parking lot at 9:30 AM on Thursday, December 18. National Park pass is required. Carpooling is available if needed.

Depending on wind and weather, we have a choice of trails, including the Long Lake Loop overlooking the Great Marsh and the Succession Trail with views of Lake Michigan.

As always, dress for the weather, wear good shoes, and bring your water. Restrooms may not be open.

And Tiny’s Coffee Bar in Miller Beach will be a great place to warm up after the hike!

Let Jerry Mansell know (text 331-777-0593) if you are interested, so we have a call list in case we need to cancel.

Join us for the Annual Holiday Pops Concert!

Yes, it's time to think about getting into the holiday spirit! Join your friends and family for the Northwest Indiana Symphony Holiday Pops Concert at 7:30 PM on Thursday, December 4. You only can you enjoy a mixture of classic and contemporary holiday music and the chorus-led carol sing-along, you can also try your luck at the games - because the concert is at the Hard Rock Casino, 5400 West 29th Avenue in Gary.

We will meet at Aurelio's Pizza, 112 E. Ridge Road in Griffith (just east of Cline Avenue) at 5:30 PM before going to the Symphony. (Dinner and drinks are not included in the ticket price.) They have a wonderful menu, including a pizza buffet with "dessert pizzas".

To tag along with Cindy Kwallek and your Duneland friends, buy your tickets from the Symphony website:
